Associate in Arts Degree
Animal Science

The Animal Science major prepares students for occupations in those areas of agriculture involving production livestock, pre-veterinary medicine, veterinary technician, livestock nutrition, agriculture education and related fields.  Both the scientific and practical aspects of the production of horse, beef, sheep, swine and dairy cattle are offered at Bakersfield College.

Required Courses: minimum of 23 units in Agriculture classes (see below) plus General Education pattern (see p. 40-41 of B.C. catalog.) for total of 60 minimum units.

Associate in Science Degree
Animal Science

The Animal Science major prepares students for occupations in those areas of agriculture involving production of livestock, veterinary technician, and related fields. Both the scientific and practical aspects of the production of horse, beef, sheep, swine and dairy cattle are stressed. Associate of Science degree is intended for students planning to complete the degree and go into the workforce.

Required Courses: 29 units of Agriculture (below) plus General Education pattern (see p. 40-41 in Bakersfield College Catalog) to total minimum of 60 units.
